The Public Works Department, Assam, envisages construction of a convention center-cum-state guesthouse near High Court at Guwahati in Kamrup district of Assam.
In December 2018, The project and the estimated value of the contract was worth Rs 221.70 crore. The foundation stone was laid on by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on 8 March 2019. Shapoorji Pallonji & Company was appointed as contractor for the project, while Design Associates, Noida, is consultant. As the latest update available with Projects Today, a convention center will be established at the site of Brahmaputra Ashoka Hotel. At present demolition work is underway.
